Rock Spring Nature Trail in Colbert County is a stop on the North Alabama Birding Trail. It is located along a portion of the Natchez Trace Parkway and is especially popular in fall, when hundreds of ruby-throated hummingbirds migrate through the area. It is also home to the rare and endangered hellbender (Cryptobranchus alleganiensis), Alabama's largest salamander.
