Pterosaur Wing Diagram

This diagram shows the major parts of a Pteranodon wing. Note that the long bone of the forewing, labelled Digit IV, is actually the equivalent of an index finger. The brachiopatagium and propatagium are the skin flaps that form the surface of the wings. The pteroid bone, so named because it is found only in pterosaurs, added support to the wing structure.
