Pond Spring is a historic building complex in Hillsboro, Lawrence County. The original plantation was established in 1818 by John Hickman and was purchased and expanded in 1827 by Benjamin Sherrod, who lived with his family in the house shown here. Benjamin Sherrod's granddaughter Daniella inherited the property, including the original Sherrod home, and later married Gen. Joe Wheeler. The couple built the house to the left as their residence in the 1870s.
