Old Ship A.M.E. Church

Montgomery's Old Ship A.M.E. Church is the oldest Black congregation in the city. The church building was originally constructed in 1835 for what is now the First United Methodist Church of Montgomery, and that congregation donated it to the current owners in the 1850s. It has been extensively remodeled, but the original rear gable remains.
