Blount County native Miles Clayton Allgood served Alabama in the U.S. Congress for 13 years, representing both the Fifth and the Seventh Districts. He was a staunch supporter of securing funding for public works and infrastructure development, most notably the establishment of the Tennessee Valley Authority.
