The Mobile Bay Middle Lighthouse was constructed in 1885 and included a keeper's house at the time. The Alabama Historical Commission oversaw a major renovation in 2002 and the Alabama Lighthouse Assocation funded new doors in 2005. More renovations were undertaken in 2010, and the lighthouse continues to operate.
