Martin Luther King Jr. Booking Photo

A Montgomery County Sheriff's Department booking photo of Martin Luther King Jr taken February 22, 1956, with the word ''Dead" and the date "4-4-68'' scrawled onto it after King was assassinated in Memphis. King was one of more than 80 people indicted for their involvement in the 1956 Montgomery bus boycott. He was convicted of violating boycotting laws and ordered to serve 386 days in jail or pay a fine of $500.
