Martha Sawyer Gielow (1860-1933) was a native of Greensboro, Hale County. She was a prolific author who contributed to a variety of genres, including collections of narratives by formerly enslaved people, poems and songs, newspaper articles, educational treatises, children's stories, novels, and lectures.
