Marching bands, such as the John LeFlore High School Marching Band (shown here), are an important part of the celebrations during Mardi Gras season in Mobile. The high school was named for local civil rights activist John LeFlore (1903-1976), who headed the Mobile chapter of the NAACP for many years.
