Luther Johnson Strange III (1953- ) is a politician, attorney, and former lobbyist who briefly served in the U.S. Senate in 2017-18 as an appointed replacement for Sen. Jeff Sessions when the latter was appointed to the position of U.S. attorney general. Strange lost in the Republican primary contest for a full term to former Alabama Supreme Court justice Roy Moore.
