Lowndes County Freedom Organization, Part 3

This video describes the atmosphere and events in Lowndes County leading up to the civil rights movement and sets the stage for the formation of the Lowndes County Freedom Organization, later known as the Black Panther Party. The organization worked with Stokely Carmichael’s Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee to increase voter registration and political representation in the African American population.
