Lophorhothon Ankle Bone

A Lophorhothon metatarsal (ankle bone) recovered from western Alabama. The projection on the lower right is an embedded shark tooth from the species Squalicorax kaupi. The tooth's presence provides firm evidence that sharks were scavenging Lophorhothon carcasses in the Late Cretaceous sea.
