Mobile community leader John LeFlore (1903-1976) casts a vote for himself in his 1972 failed bid for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. LeFlore ran as a candidate for the National Democratic Party of Alabama, which was founded in 1968 to address African American candidates' exclusion from ballots in many Alabama counties.
