John Coffee

Gen. John Coffee (1772-1833) was a soldier, plantation owner, and surveyor who served under Gen. Andrew Jackson during the War of 1812 and the Creek War of 1813-14 and was Alabama's first surveyor general. Coffee County is named in his honor.
