Janney Furnace in Ohatchee, Calhoun County, was built in 1863, during the Civil War, to provide pig iron to the Confederate Army but was destroyed soon after completion during a raid by Union general Lovell H. Rousseau. Now managed as a park by the Calhoun County Parks and Recreation Office, the site is listed on the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage.
