Jackson's Military Road Map

Jackson's Military Road, completed in 1820, connected Nashville, Tennessee, with New Orleans, Louisiana. It was named for Gen. Andrew Jackson and traversed northwestern Alabama. Portions of the original route continue to be used by the state highway system in Lauderdale, Franklin, and Marion Counties.
