Alabama Power has been producing electricity at Gorgas Steam Plant for decades. Today, the facility features some of the most technologically advanced environmental equipment in the industry, including selective catalytic reduction technology to help address ground-level ozone and a scrubber that reduces sulfur dioxide, a component of acid rain.
