The Gorgas House Museum in Tuscaloosa, Tuscaloosa County, displays numerous furnishings that were owned by the Gorgas family and that reflect middle-class life in the late-nineteenth century. On the wall above the fireplace is a portrait of Amelia Gayle Gorgas, wife of University of Alabama president Josiah Gorgas and daughter of Alabama governor John Gayle.
