Gene Bartow

Gene Bartow was the first men's basketball head coach at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, serving for 18 seasons and leading the team to 365 wins and nine appearances in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I national championship tournament. As athletic director, he was instrumental in developing the school's football program in the 1990s.
