As business improved, the Freedom Quilting Bee moved its operation from the living room of Estelle Witherspoon to the Martin Luther King Jr. Sewing Center, completed in 1969. The co-operative has continued to develop new markets and products with long-term contracts with the likes of Sears-Roebuck and Ben and Jerry’s.
