Francis M. Cockrell (1834-1915) was a lawyer and U.S. senator from Missouri who served as an officer in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. In Alabama, Cockrell was one of the commanding officers of the Confederate defenses in the Battle of Fort Blakeley, in Baldwin County, on April 9, 1865.
