The Foscue House (1840), also known as the Foscue-Whitfield House, was built by planter Augustus Foscue as a town residence. The home was later the residence of Foscue's daughter, Mary Alice, and her husband, Bryan Watkins Whitfield. Whitfield's father, Nathan Bryan Whitfield, constructed Demopolis's most famous historic home, Gaineswood, in 1843. Foscue House is now a restaurant.
