Chambers County native Forrest "Fob" James (1934- ) was governor of Alabama from 1979-83 and 1995-99, the only Alabama governor to be elected as a member of both political parties. Prior to entering politics, he played professional football in Canada and was a successful manufacturing executive at Diversified Products Inc.
