This 1864 sketch of the federal supply depot at Stevenson was created by George H. Blakeslee, a U.S. Army soldier in the 129th Illinois Infantry, Company G. He recorded numerous events and places in Tennessee and Alabama during the Civil War. The town was an important and contested transportation hub and changed hands between the federal government and the Confederacy several times over the course of the war.
