Earl Warren (1894-1971) was Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court from 1953-69 and a three-term governor of California (1943-53). Chief Justice Warren presided over a Supreme Court that used its power to reshape American society with landmark rulings in such areas as privacy, religion, education, constitutional criminal law, and voting rights.
