Clement Claiborne Clay

Huntsville native Clement Claiborne Clay served in the Alabama House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate prior to the outbreak of the Civil War. During the conflict, he worked as a Confederate propagandist in Canada and was briefly implicated in the plot to assassinate Pres. Abraham Lincoln.
