Charles Eugene Shannon, 1938

Charles Eugene Shannon (1914-1996) was an artist and art educator who played significant roles in the creation of the New South arts collective and the Department of Fine Arts at Auburn University Montgomery and in the promotion of the art and career of self-taught Alabama artist Bill Traylor. He is shown here in 1938 on his studio property in Searcy, Butler County.
