Bluntnose Darter

The bluntnose darter (Etheostoma chlorosoma) is distributed in Gulf Coastal drainages from eastern Texas to the Mobile Basin including throughout the Mississippi River Basin. Preferred habitat includes low gradient, small streams, ponds, and oxbow lakes. Spawning occurs in April. Eggs are deposited on submerged plants, the roots of emergent plants, and other underwater debris.
