The Russell family, owners of Russell Corporation, constructed a number of mansions in Alexander City, where founder Ben Russell established the company in 1902. His son Benjamin constructed this home in 1913. The complex of buildings, along with several others in the area, were added to the National Register of Historic Places as the Russell Family Historic District in 2006.
