Bama Rowell

Citronelle native Carvel “Bama” Rowell (1916-1993) was a Major League baseball player with the Boston Bees/Braves and the Philadelphia Phillies in the 1930s and 1940s. He is best known for his hit that struck the clock at Brooklyn’s Ebbets Field in 1946, inspiring a scene in the 1952 novel The Natural and the 1984 movie version.
