Violinist and conductor Amerigo Marino led the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (now Alabama Symphony Orchestra) from 1964 to 1984. Prior to becoming a symphony conductor, he was a violinist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and worked as a composer and conductor for the CBS television and radio network.
