Albert Boutwell

Lt. Gov. Albert Boutwell, right, and Gov. John Patterson shown here during Patterson's inauguration ceremony in January 1959. Boutwell was a state senator prior to his service in the executive branch and oversaw several state efforts to maintain racially segregated schools after the U.S. Supreme Court Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka ruling that declared segregated schools unconstitutional.
