Alabama National Guardsmen, 1908

During the widespread 1908 strike among coal miners in the Birmingham Mineral District, mine owners repeatedly called on Gov. Braxton Bragg Comer to call out the Alabama National Guard to break up the strike. He did so on August 26 of that year, and the strike was soundly defeated.
