Mobile native Herbert "Sonny" Leon Callahan Jr. (1932-2021) represented Alabama's First District in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1985-2003. Prior to his tenure in Washington, D.C., Callahan served in the U.S. Navy and the state legislature.
