John M. Harbert III

John M. Harbert III (1921-1995) was a businessman and philanthropist who spent much of his life in Birmingham. He founded an international construction company that made him one of the wealthiest people in the state at the height of his working life. A graduate of the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering at Auburn University, he donated significant funds to the college, and his son, Raymond Harbert, made a large endowment to the university's business college, which was renamed in his honor.
