Robert Lee Bullard

Robert Lee Bullard of present-day Lee County is shown here in 1919 following his service in World War I. Born William Robert Bullard, he asked his parents to name him after Confederate general Robert E. Lee under whom Bullard's uncle served during the American Civil War and for whom Lee County is named. Bullard was a professional soldier who served in the U.S. Army throughout his adult life and achieved the rank of lieutenant general.
