Alabama-born pitcher Virgil Trucks warms up in the Detroit Tigers stadium during a Major League Baseball game. Nicknamed "Fire" Trucks for the "heat" of his pitching style, he played for the Tigers from 1941 to 1952, including the 1945 season in which they won the World Series.
