Ross Franklin Gray

U.S. Marine Ross Franklin Gray (1920-1945) was awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroic actions on the Japanese island of Iwo Jima during World War II. The Bibb County native destroyed enemy positions while under machine gun fire and then cleared a mine field, enabling his unit to advance on February 21, 1945. Sadly, he was killed in action less than a week later.
