By the 1910s, Hunter C. Haynes was running an extremely successful razor and barber supply company from his headquarters in New York City. This ad appeared in 1912 in The Crisis, the magazine of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People founded by humanities scholar and civil rights activist W. E. B. Du Bois in 1910.
