Birmingham native Dorothy Sebastian (1903-1957), born Stella Dorothy Sabiston, gained fame during the silent film era and successfully transitioned to "talkies" in the 1930s. She performed in more than 60 films with some of the top stars of the period, including Buster Keaton and Joan Crawford.
