John F. Duggar

John F. Duggar, director of the Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station at what is now Auburn University, founded the Old Rotation Cotton Experiment in 1896. He stands here in a field of vetch, a popular cover crop. The test fields have been under continuous study since their creation and have yielded much important data about soil fertility and plant cultivation.
