Mobile Medical College Students

Students study cadavers at the Medical College of Alabama, also known as Mobile Medical College, in Mobile, Mobile County, in this Erik Overbey photo from around 1905. The school was founded in 1859 through the efforts of physician Josiah C. Nott (1804-1873). It closed during the American Civil War, was later used by the Freedman's Bureau as a school, and closed permanently in 1920.
