Gustav Hasford Photo, 1968

U.S. Marine Corps Corp. Gustav Hasford took this photo of Vietnamese refugees and soldiers working on a pontoon bridge across the Perfume River near the city of Hue on February 21, 1968. The refugees assisted in the construction to earn safe passage to the other side, where they could escape battle. The existing bridge had been destroyed by Viet Cong saboteurs.
