Birmingham native and Democrat George S. Huddleston Jr. (1920-1971) represented Alabama's Ninth District in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1955 to 1965. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was an attorney, judge, and businessman prior to taking his seat in Congress.
