Richmond Hobson

Richmond Pearson Hobson (1870-1937) was a navy rear admiral during the Spanish-American war and represented Alabama in the U.S. House of Representatives during the early twentieth century. Later in life he led nation-wide efforts to ban drugs and alcohol. Hobson's childhood home, Magnolia Grove in Greensboro, is today preserved as a historic site and museum.
