The Joseph Richard Hawthorne plantation house in Pine Apple, Wilcox County, is seen in this image from 1937. The home was completed in 1854 for Hawthorne, who owned a number of plantations in Wilcox and Conecuh Counties. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.
