Big Spring (now Huntsville) in Madison County photographed during a flood in 1862. The waterway, known as Indian Creek Canal, was built around 1820 by prominent early citizens LeRoy Pope, Thomas Fearn, and others. It was no longer used for transportation by the time of the flood.
