Jimmie Rodgers (1897-1933), often referred to as "The Father of Country Music" and "The Singing Brakeman," was an early pioneer of country music. Some say he was born in Meridian, Mississippi, and others claim it was Geiger, Alabama. Rodgers had a short but successful career that influenced country stars such as Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, and Gene Autry.
