Chambers County Museum

The Chambers County Museum in LaFayette is housed in the former Central of Georgia Railway depot. The building was constructed in 1908 by the company and still contains some of the original interior elements, including the freight scale. Exhibits in the museum include locally made stoneware pottery, a goat-powered butter churn, spinning wheels, and nineteenth-century clothing. LaFayette native and boxing champion Joe Louis is featured in another exhibit, which includins photographs, trophies, and a pair of his boxing gloves. Outdoor exhibits include a period caboose and the Tallapoosa Queen ferry boat.
