Brick Kitchen at Borders Plantation

The brick kitchen at the Borders plantation in Calhoun County. To the right is the covered breezeway linking it to the dining room of the larger family home, a two-story framed I-house with clapboard siding. Beyond the breezeway can be seen a corner of a companion brick, pyramid-roofed smokehouse. The house was documented by the Historic American Building Survey in 1935 when this photo was taken. It was extensively restored in the early 1990s and was listed on the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage in 1998.
